- YOU CAN EARN ANYWHERE FROM $50 TO $80 A SOCCER GAME, DEPENDING ON THE AGE GROUP YOU REFEREE
- WE REIMBURSE YOU FOR ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH BECOMING A REFEREE (UNIFORM, COURSES, ETC.)
- YOU DID NOT HAVE TO PLAY SOCCER TO BECOME A SOCCER REFEREE – WE INSTRUCT AND GUIDE ALONG THE WAY.
- New referees you will have to complete the Grassroots referee course and obtain your US Soccer referee license (instructions can be found below) Classes should be posted on or around the first week of July, please check the website regularly as classes fill up quickly.
- All referees (new and old) there is a mandatory referee classes for NWBSA. There are 4 dates for the classes (dates and locations are below). There is no need to preregister, please let me know when you plan on taking the class so I can document it for our records. (there is no cost associated with this class)
- Existing referees already licensed, after July 1 please log into the your US soccer account (https://learning.ussoccer.com) to renew and or to make sure your referee license is current and up to date.

On that page you will see a tab Grassroots First Time Referees. On the top right you will see a go to courses list. Click on that. You will see a list of courses. there is a tab for state. Please select New Jersey. You will see two currently available courses.
The Referee calendar year starts on July 1st so they will post more courses on or around that date throughout the summer. The advantage to this is that if you sign up after July 1st you are covered for both the 2024 season and the 2025 season. If you take one of the remaining classes you will have to recertify again in December for next year and it will cost you an additional approximately $60.00. The cost for the referee certification course is $155.00 This includes your certification as well as your referee starter kit/uniform. If you are available and referee for me this season you will be reimbursed that fee. (questions on what is required to qualify please contact me directly for that ). If you want to wait to take the summer courses please bookmark the learning center page and put a reminder to check in your phone every week starting mid June for the class postings. I will send an email out alerting everyone to the new classes as soon as I become aware of them. When I alert you that classes are posted you must sign up ASAP for a class as they have space limitations and they fill up very quickly.
You will also need to complete this NWBSA Referee Registration Form form and email it back to me along with a separate headshot photo (not attached to the form) so that I may complete your Referee ID. You can complete this part once you have either signed up for a Referee Course or for those of you that have already taken the course complete this part now.
